The Task
Prior to the introduction of Age Legislation, RoadChef asked us to create a communications approach that would reinforce the education of employees with a positive diversity message.
Action
To ensure full attendance of internal training sessions, we whet their appetite by sending a printed napkin and fork to all attendees prior to the session. At the end of training, everyone was given a personalised birthday cake, to remind them that a birthday is the only time someone’s age matters.
Results
By providing a talking point for the training, the cakes helped people remember key aspects and the importance of implementing the required changes. As it was also an enjoyable gift, it ensured managers felt valued and rewarded for their contribution. The activity achieved the desired results, as age diversity became a positive talking point amongst employees, with all changes implemented smoothly and successfully.
